EVERY MAN A SUPERMAN
This story begins, as many others, in the Daily Planet offices, where a couple of reporters, Jack and Betty, make Lois to remember they have a date after working. Lois answer yes to them but speaking with Clark she said that she must go to profesor Wilson’s lab in order to see the new apparatus he has invented. Clark thinks that Dr. Wilson’s experiment may be dangerous.
Lois becomes surprised to see Superman in the experiment. When Dr. Wilson starts the ray of his apparatus, Superman sees with his special vision that is going to be an explosion that will injure the reporters so he quickly intercepts the explosion with his body.
Superman is surprised because he has been sent one thousand years into the future. He is now in the year 2,949. But his surprise doesn’t end there as when he looks at the sky he sees a flying woman with a green dress taking a great concrete estructure repairing a bridge. When the flying woman approaches Superman he sees that she is a perfet double of Lois Lane, but the woman sais that her name is Lois 4XR. After speaking for a while, Superman finds that this Lois is a descendant of Lois Lane so he deduces that in the past, in 1,949, Lois finaly married Superman. But Lois 4XR tells Superman that in the future everybody has super powers so the Man of Steel decides to investigate who was the person that married Lois.
While Lois 4XR shows Superman the Metropolis of her time, an incredible city with high towers interconected by bridges, the Man of Steel sees that everybody can fly because all of them are Supermen. Lois 4XR brings Superman to the University in order the cientists explain the reason of that.
In the University Superman explains to the scientists how he has got there from 1,949 and he asks for devices that can send him back to his time. The scientists doubt about the Superman story and tell him that if he can prove that he comes from 1,949 they will gave him the devices to get back to his time. Superman answers them that it can be proved seeing the recordings of the ancient Metropolis, but the scientisys tell Superman that all recordings were damaged in 1,970. The scientists of that year dicovered that a huge comet aproacched to the Earth and calculated that it was going to fall over Metropolis, so they evacuated the city that was completely destroyed, building another city in another place. The comet exhaled a strange gas that gave superpowers to everybody. Then Superman thinks that Lois 4XR has superpowers for that reason not for married Superman. In spite of that the Man of Steel decides to investigate visiting the ruins of Metropolis and Lois 4XR helps him in his job, but they find nothing by the moment thinking that the comet, after destroying Metropolis, went on his way through outer space, attracting parts of the city with the strength of its gravity.
Superman feels uncomfortable with Lois 4XR but she insists in knowing who was her great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother and both of them go to outer space when Superman has calculated where the comet can be. They finally find the comet and land over it, the Super Man and the Super Woman.
Superman finds the Daily Planet ruins and a piece of a newspaper talking about the wedding of two reporters, Lois Lane and…. But he cannot go on reading because the newspaer is broken on this place, furthermore he hears Lois 4XR shouting and asking for help. The strengh of the queue of the comet is pulling her. Superman saves Lois 4XR but he is upset because he must do the same thing as with the Lois Lane of 1,949, that is to say, saving her continually. Superman ask Lois 4XR to let him alone but Lois insists on going on with him in order to find who her ancestors were.
The Man of Steel wants to take pictures of the Lois Lane wedding day with a camera that he has found on the ruins. Lois 4XR ask him how to do such a thing and Superman answer her that the light rays travel through the space and with his superspeed he will
reach them. Superman thinks inside him that perhaps at the same time he will be able to lose sight of the upset Lois 4XR.
When Superman has intercepted the light rays from 1,949, takes the picture, but he hears again Lois 4XR asking for help. She has got so terribly speed following Superman that she cannot stop and she is going to the end of the Universe. Superman takes Lois 4XR by her feet and stops her, telling her that Lois Lane in the past was always a worry but a Lois with super powers is worst.
On Earth again, Superman develops the picture where it can be seen Superman and Lois Lane at the door of a church, so Lois 4XR says to Superman that he is her great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather and Superman answer her that one Lois is enough for him so he gets back to his time.
Superman shows the picture to the scientists of the University as the prove that he is from 1,949 and then they let him use the devices to get back to his time. At the moment in wich the ray reach the Man of Steel, Lois 4XR says goodby to her great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather and Superman is again in Dr. Wilson’s lab among the reporters and Lois Lane that says to Superman that for a moment she had sought Superman disappear. Superman thinks that those instants have been a one thousand years travel into the futur.
When the Man of Steel is going to leave the lab, Lois stops Superman remember him that two reporter friends, Jack and Beaty are going to be married today and he will promise them to be the godfather. The Man of Steel thinks that he soon will be married with Lois as he could see in the future.
But when Superman is with Lois at the door of the Church, after the two just married reporters are gone, he realizes that both Lois and him are in the same position that in the picture he developed as a prove to the scientists of the future, so the news of the piece of the newspaper was related to the wedding of Jack and Betty and now he doesn’t know if he someday will marry Lois or not and while Superman is thinking about this matter, Lois says: “Well, Superman, see you soon. I have a date with Calrk Kent”.
So the Lois of the SUPERMAN 57 cover is not Lois Lane but Lois 4XR.
As a curiosity, although this story is anounced on the cover as the first story, is the second one inside the issue.
At the end of the story you can see an advertisemente of the Superman radio programs and in the following page you can see the SUPERBOY NO.1 cover.
CADA PERSONA UN SUPERMAN
Esta historia comienza, como tantas otras, en las oficinas del Daily Planet, donde una pareja de reporteros, Jack y Betty, recuerdan a Lois la cita que tienen para después del trabajo. Lois les dice que sí, pero comenta con Clark que antes quiere pasar por el laboratorio del profesor Wilson para ver el nuevo aparato que ha inventado. Clark piensa que el experimento del Dr. Wilson puede resultar peligroso y decide ir como Superman.
Lois se queda sorprendida al ver que Superman también ha ido a presenciar el experimento del científico. Cuando el Dr. Wilson pone en funcionamiento el rayo de su aparato, Superman se da cuenta con su visión especial que se va a producir una explosión que dañará a los reporteros y rápidamente intercepta la fuerza de la explosión con su cuerpo.
Superman está sorprendido pues ha sido enviado mil años hacia el futuro. Se halla en el año 2.949. Pero no acaba allí su sorpresa, pues al mirar hacia arriba ve a una mujer vestida con un traje de color verde que vuela y lleva encima una gran estructura de cemento de un puente que está reparando. Cuando la mujer se acerca a Superman, éste se da cuenta que es un doble exacto de Lois Lane, debido al gran parecido, pero la mujer le dice que se llama Lois 4XR. Después de hablar un rato, Superman descubre que esta Lois es una descendiente de Lois Lane y deduce que en el pasado, en 1.949, terminó casándose con Lois. Pero Lois 4XR le contesta que ahora todo el mundo tiene superpoderes por lo que Superman decide investigar con quien se casó Lois Lane.
Mientras, Lois 4XR le muestra la Metropolis de su tiempo, una increíble ciudad con altísimas torres y puentes que las interconecta y donde el Hombre de Acero ve que todo el mundo vuela, porque allí todos son Superman. Lois lo lleva a la universidad para que los científicos le puedan explicar la razón de esto.
En la universidad, Superman explica cómo ha llegado desde 1.949 y solicita aparatos para poder regresar a su tiempo. Los científicos dudan de la historia que ha contado, pero le dicen que si puede probar que viene de 1.949, le proporcionarán los aparatos que desee. Superman les dice que se puede probar viendo las grabaciones de la antigua Metropolis, pero le responden que en 1970 se destruyeron todas las grabaciones de la ciudad. En aquel año, los científicos descubrieron que un enorme cometa se acercaba a la Tierra y calcularon que caería sobre Metropolis, así que hicieron evacuar la ciudad y el cometa efectivamente la arrasó totalmente, por lo que la reconstruyeron en otro lugar. El cometa desprendió unos extraños gases que dieron superpoderes a todo el mundo. Superman piensa que entonces Lois 4XW tiene poderes por ese motivo, no porque él se haya casado con Lois Lane. De todas formas decide investigar en las ruinas de la antigua ciudad y Lois 4XR le ayuda en su cometido, aunque de momento no encuentran nada, pensando que el cometa, que después de arrasar Metropolis, como pasó tangencialmente, siguió su curso por el espacio, con su fuerza de gravedad debió de arrastrar elementos de la ciudad.
Superman se siente un poco molesto con la presencia de Lois 4XR, pero ésta insiste en que ella también quiere averiguar quien fue su tatara-tatara-tatara abuela y los dos se lanzan al espacio, donde Superman ha calculado por donde debe estar el cometa, hallándolo y aterrizando en su superficie, el Superhombre y la Supermujer.
Superman halla las ruinas del edificio del Daily Planet y encuentra un fragmento de un periódico que habla de la boda de dos reporteros del diario, Lois Lane y .... pero no puede seguir leyendo pues el diario está roto en ese lugar y además oye gritar a Lois 4XR pidiendo auxilio. La fuerza de la cola del cometa la arrastra. Superman la salva, quejándose de que tiene que hacer con ella lo mismo que con Lois Lane, que siempre la estaba salvando. Nuevamente le pide que le deje solo, pero Lois 4XR insiste en seguir a su lado pues quiere averiguar quienes fueron sus antepasados.
El Hombre de Acero, se propone fotografiar el día de la boda de Lois Lane con una cámara fotográfica que ha encontrado entre las ruinas. Lois le pregunta que cómo lo va a hacer y Superman le contesta que los rayos de luz viajan por el espacio y con supervelocidad los alcanzará. En su interior piensa que quizás podrá así, Superman perder de vista a la molesta Lois 4XR.
Cuando Superman ha conseguido interceptar los rayos provenientes de 1949, hace la fotografía, pero de nuevo oye gritos de socorro de Lois 4XR. Ha cogido tanta velocidad al seguirle que no puede parar y va a irse al final del universo. Superman la coge a tiempo por los pies y la frena, diciéndole que Lois Lane representaba siempre una gran preocupación, pero que una Lois con Superpoderes es aún peor.
Una vez en la Tierra, Superman revela la fotografía, donde se ve a Superman y Lois Lane saliendo de la puerta de la Iglesia, por lo que Lois 4XR le dice que entonces él es su tatara-tatara-tatara abuelo y Superman le contesta que una Lois es suficiente para él y que se va de regreso a su tiempo.
Superman muestra la fotografía a los científicos de la universidad, como prueba de que pertenece a 1949 y entonces le permiten usar el aparato con rayos que le devolverá a su tiempo. En el momento en que el rayo cae sobre el Hombre de Acero, Lois 4XR le dice adiós a su tatara-tatara-tatara abuelo y al momento Superman se ve de nuevo en el laboratorio del profesor Wilson rodeado de los reporteros y de Lois Lane que le dice que algo le ha debido pasar a sus ojos pues le ha parecido ver que Superman había desaparecido de la habitación por unos instantes. Superman piensa que esos instantes han sido mil años de viaje al futuro.
Cuando el Hombre de Acero se dispone a marchar de allí, Lois le detiene y le recuerda que dos amigos reporteros, Jack y Betty se casan hoy y les ha prometido que Superman sería el padrino de boda. El Hombre de Acero piensa que pronto se casará él con Lois, tal como pudo comprobar en el futuro.
Pero cuando se halla con Lois en la puerta de la Iglesia, después de que los dos recién casados se han ido, se da cuenta de que son dos reporteros los que se han casado, lo mismo que ponía en el trozo de periódico que encontró, además se da cuenta de que está junto a Lois en la misma posición de la fotografía que había sacado él como prueba para demostrar que pertenecía a 1.949, por lo que se da cuenta de que aquella noticia se refería a la boda de Jack y Betty, por lo que la cosa ha cambiado. Ahora no sabe si se casará con Lois o no y, mientras está pensando en esto, Lois le dice: --Bueno Superman, hasta luego. Me voy pues tengo una cita con Clark Kent--.
Osea que la Lois Lane que se ve en la portada, no es Lois Lane, sino Lois 4XR.
También hay que señalar la curiosidad de que esta historia aparece en el interior del cuaderno como la segunda aventura, pese a que se anuncia en portada como la primera.
Al finalizar la historia se anuncian los programas de radio sobre las aventuras de Superman y en la página siguiente, ocupándola por entero, se anuncia la portada del número uno de la nueva revista:
